Expert Reviews (Heuristic Evaluations)
Usability Sciences performs Expert Reviews (also known as Heuristic Evaluations) for clients needing a quick evaluation of a website, mobile site or app, or software product, but without the time to conduct a lab-based test (which should always be the preferred approach to site or product improvement because it conveys the true voice of the target user).
USC's review process assigns two experienced usability consultants to the project. They review the site, app, or product independently, making notes of all potential issues they observe. They then compare findings to arrive at a consensus of usability issues. The consultants consolidate their perspectives into a report designed to provide high-level analysis and feedback, as well as specific issues or concerns about the website or software product.

- Number of Evaluation Days: 1 - 3 days
- Recommended Timing in Development Cycle: Anytime
- Recommended when time or other constraints prohibit the client from performing usability testing with target market participants
Expert Review Deliverables
- Upon completion of the review, USC provides a report consisting of bulleted findings with screenshots and recommendations, supplemented by video illustration if appropriate
- The report and video are provided within one to two business days of evaluation completion
