Internet Retailer: Creating the Customer-Centered Design
This forthcoming thought leadership will be presented in Miami at the Web Design ‘08 Conference. This joint presentation with JC Penney is focused on how retailers convert and grow revenue through online customer experience initiatives.
It sounds elementary—site design should reflect how customers use sites. But that’s not always—or even often—how online retailers approach their site design. Often the retailer’s objectives come first and design conforms to what the retailer wants to do. But successful online retailers take into account how consumers shop online—then make the site meet those expectations while serving the retailer’s needs. It’s not an easy balance to strike and usability expert Jeff Schueler will talk attendees through how to meet both objectives, citing specific examples from his company’s own work and from sites he has analyzed. He will be joined by a retailer who will outline how the company’s web design evolved as executives came to a better understanding of how to meet the needs both of consumers and the company.
